Privacy Notice — Puentes Matamoros

Effective: October 13, 2026

Puentes Matamoros (the “App”) is a free, ad-free mobile app that shows wait times at the international bridges between Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The App is developed and operated by Bravovalley LLC (“we”), through its Bravo Tech Systems brand. This notice explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and what control you have over it.

Summary

  • We do not ask you to create an account or give us your name.
  • We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
  • We do not show ads or use your data for advertising.
  • GPS measurement is optional. If you turn it on, while you are in a bridge’s line the App anonymously shares how far along that line you are and how fast you are moving, and when you finish, the duration of your crossing — never your coordinates or your route.
  • Your personal crossing history is stored only on your phone. We do not have a copy.
  • The identifiers we use are anonymous and are not linked to your identity.
  • We do not keep data associated with your use for more than 90 days; it is deleted automatically.

Information collected

1. Anonymous installation identifier

The App generates a random identifier when it is installed and stores it on your device. It is used to associate your alerts and your contributions with your installation (for example, so you can delete what you reported) and to limit excessive reporting. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or your Apple/Google account.

2. Notifications (alerts) — optional

If you turn on alerts, we register a push notification token (provided by your device’s notification system) so we can send you notices, together with the alert rules you set up (bridge, lane, and minute threshold). This is stored securely to evaluate and send your alerts.

If you reinstall the App, your phone keeps the same notification token. We use it to move your earlier alerts to the new installation, so you can still see, pause, and delete them.

3. Location, measurement, and live crossing reports — optional

If you explicitly turn on “Medición automática” (automatic measurement), the App uses your device’s location, including in the background, to detect when you join a bridge’s line, follow your progress while you wait, and know when you reach the inspection booth.

While you are in line, the App calculates on your own device how far along that line you are, and anonymously sends our backend:

  • a progress percentage (0% when you join the line, 100% at the booth) along a line drawing that is public and fixed;
  • the speed at which you are moving and how long you have been stopped;
  • the bridge, direction, lane, and means of travel you chose;
  • a random identifier that is different for each crossing, which does not allow two crossings to be linked to each other.

We do not transmit coordinates, routes, or location history. Your coordinates are used only on your device to calculate that percentage and are never sent or stored. Outside a bridge’s line, nothing at all is shared.

While you are reporting you will see a persistent notice inside the App and a system notification, both with a button to stop it. You can turn the feature off at any time from the App or from your device’s settings.

4. Community reports and measurements

Community contributions (live progress and GPS-measured times) are stored anonymously to show them to other users and to calculate estimates. They contain no personal information.

You can also enter by hand how long you waited, without giving the App your location. In that case only the bridge, direction, lane, means of travel, and the minutes you typed are sent, together with your anonymous installation identifier.

What is published is always an average: the line is divided into sections and only median speeds are shown. A person’s position is never published, and a line’s details appear only when enough people are reporting at the same time that no one can be identified; below that threshold, only the number of people reporting is shown.

5. Your crossing history — only on your phone

The history of your crossings (“Cruces”) is stored only on your device. It is not uploaded to any server, we do not have a copy, and we cannot recover it: if you change phones, delete the App, or clear its data, that history is lost. This is a deliberate choice so that you do not need an account. You can export it from the App whenever you like.

6. Feedback and suggestions

If you send us a bug report or an idea from the App, we receive the message you write and, if you choose to include it, your email address (optional, only to reply to you).

7. Technical data when using external sources

The App gets information from public sources: wait times from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), plus public weather and exchange-rate services. When these requests are made, those sources may receive technical data such as your IP address, under their own policies.

8. Car integrations (CarPlay / Android Auto)

The CarPlay and Android Auto screens only display wait times.

On iPhone, while the phone is connected to the car, the App can show a live card (Live Activity) with the wait times. To start, update, and end it, we record, together with your anonymous installation identifier:

  • the tokens Apple’s system issues for that card, which are used only to send it updates;
  • whether the phone is connected to or disconnected from the car, and when it last reported this;
  • Apple’s response to the last attempt to show the card, so we can diagnose problems.

This does not include your location or where you are going. You can turn off the App’s Live Activities in your iPhone’s settings.

9. Website

Our website may use analytics tools to understand usage in aggregate and improve the service. This applies to the website, not to the collection of personal data within the App.

How we use information

  • To show and improve bridge wait times.
  • To send you the alerts you set up.
  • To calculate crossing estimates from anonymous contributions.
  • To reply to your feedback (if you leave your email).
  • To keep the service running, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.

Device permissions

  • Location (including background): only if you turn on GPS measurement. It is used while you are in a bridge’s line to calculate your progress and the duration of your crossing; the calculation happens on your device and only the progress percentage and speed leave it, anonymously. If you turn it on, background location is also used to know which side of the border you are on for location-based alerts (only “Mexico” or “U.S.” is stored).
  • Notifications: only if you turn on alerts, to send you notices.

Who it is shared with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that allow us to operate the App — for example, backend hosting and storage, notification delivery, and feedback processing — and only to the extent necessary, under confidentiality obligations. Push notifications are delivered through your device’s operating system services (Apple or Google). We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data retention

We do not keep data associated with your use for more than 90 days. Specifically:

  • Crossing measurements and community reports are short-lived and are deleted automatically (in about 12 hours).
  • Live progress data stops counting as active a few minutes after your phone stops reporting, and crossing records are deleted from the backend within a few hours.
  • The notification token, your alert rules, and the live card data are kept while you use the App; if you stop using it, they are deleted automatically within 90 days. You can delete your alerts from the App at any time.
  • Feedback you send us is kept only as long as needed to respond to you.

Your choices and rights

  • Turn off GPS measurement at any time (in the App or in your device settings).
  • Turn off notifications in the App or in your device settings.
  • Delete the contributions you created.
  • Uninstall the App to stop all collection; you can write to us to request deletion of data associated with your installation.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle. No system is 100% secure, but we minimize the data collected precisely to reduce risk: we favor anonymous identifiers and derived data (such as durations) over personal information.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice. We will post the current version on this page with its date. Continued use of the App means you accept the changes.
